Title:

Photographs of Hawaii and the ships Nipsic, Vandalia, and Trenton in Samoa

Abstract:

Three scenic views of Hawaii: an outrigger with Diamond Head in background, Diamond Head from Punchbowl, and a view numbered 237 and captioned "Pali from spring". This view includes what appears to be the lense board of a stereo camera in the foreground. The other views relate to three American naval ships caught by a storm at Apia, Samoa on March 15-16, 1889. Two views picture the beached gunboat Nipsic, the sunken screw sloop Vandalia, and the screw steamer Trenton; one shows the surviving Nipsic some time after the disaster.
